The Miracle League of Southlake will open its Spring season on April 17th with baseball skills clinics being held for the Minor and AAA divisions and opening day games for the Major division. The following week, April 24th, all three divisions will be playing a regular, 2 inning game, A schedule will be posted on our web site in the coming days and coaches will be contacting each player with other information as the modified rosters are built and delivered to them.
Due to the current situation with the COVID 19 pandemic still lingering, we have had to make some adjustments to our team rosters and our operations practices. Due to the number of registered players this spring, our Minor division has been reduced from 8 teams to 4, by combining players from different teams to make a full roster. The same has been done for the Triple A division (4 teams down to 2) and our Major division (6 teams down to 4). There will be no rain makeup date.
On the operations side, we have put some protocols in place to enhance the safety of our players, families, and volunteers.
“High fives” and handshakes will no longer be allowed at the end of each game.
For the players that need “Buddy’s”( primarily Minor and AAA) it will be necessary for a parent or designated adult to function as a buddy or they will not be allowed to play.
Concession meal tickets will not be provided, however individual snack packets will be handed out to each player containing a treat, water or juice, and a sanitary wipe.
The “Team Mom” will be in charge of her respective dugout to ensure proper distancing is maintained. Only 5 players at a time will be allowed in the dugout and the remaining players will be staged outside the dugout gate. Sanitation machines will be strategically located in the dugouts and in select locations on the fence. Team Mom’s will be responsible for using sanitary wipes to clean all touch points once per game.
Coaches will be responsible for seeing that their players are maintaining proper distancing on the field.
Sanitary wipes will be used to wipe down bats after EVERY use.
Use of face masks is strongly encouraged when on or around the playing field, especially for coaches and volunteers, but it will be at the discretion of the player’s parents.
There will be no one in the stands but we will have cardboard signs in the stands, similar to what the Pros have done.
A waiver, provided by Miracle League of Southlake, must be signed by each player and parent or guardian before the player will be allowed to participate in Miracle League activities. Only one signed waiver will be needed per season.
If a player contracts the COVID 19 virus, the family must make the Miracle League aware of the situation as soon as possible.
It has been a long road back to some form of normal and we will continue to work on the protection and safety our players to the best of our ability. Please work with us this season to help us provide a great experience of playing our national pastime for all our special athletes.
Can’t wait to see you all at the ballpark!
